![]() There third category is usually something you can ignore UNLESS you have nothing on defense (2 spear fighters, 1 rogue, etc.). ![]() With some analysis of attacks that broke through you can then build a better defense. Most of the mass attackers are lazy in the sense that they will use the same type of army for every person (this works with certain units and high boost with minimal injury). The second category is where you have the most say. Diplomacy and savvy go a long way in these cases and sometimes there's nothing you can do but wait for them to advance out of your hood. There's nothing you can do by force to dissuade them from attacking. Generally you will be receiving three types of attacks, ones you have no chance of winning (from high boosted players and/or advanced age), ones you can fight off but need the right terrain or unit mix to win (from similar/higher aged players), and then attacks that you will (usually) win provided you protect yourself accordingly (from lower aged up-and-comers and other looking for scraps). ![]() Since there is a spread of ages in any hood, it's impossible to prevent all attacks from getting through unless you are one of the stronger players or have a smart defense (I'll get into what this is in a bit). This may sound confusing at first but bear with me. The "defense" here in FoE does not directly serve the purpose of preventing attackers from plundering you but, a good defense will (in some capacity) indirectly. I noticed that you suggested this idea in another thread as a viable defense and wanted to address some things. Really, these are just passive-aggressive reactions that only placate the psychological desire for retribution and a sense of doing something in retaliation. So really in your efforts to prevent your attacker's gain, you have given them access to another resource and ultimately assisting in their endeavors. This also opens up an opportunity to gain points for lower age PvP tower points that may be empty since I can now crash your defenses with low age troops. ![]() ![]() Some of the time I get them, so a win either way. In these cases, I make sure to stop by a few more time a day to check their goods, as Shady does. What Shady is eluding to is that when people make attempts to indirectly harm attackers, such as placing a minimal defense or setting decoy goods buildings, it usually only draws more attention to that person. ![]()
